April was one for the books at Mattenga’s Pizzeria. From surprise visits to community connections, we’ve been busy doing what we love—serving up incredible pizza and unforgettable moments. Here’s a look back at the highlights from this action-packed month!
Dave Portnoy Comes to Callaghan
The one and only Dave Portnoy made a stop at our Callaghan location—and let’s just say, it was a slice of glory. We were pumped (and a little nervous) to serve him, and we’re proud to have shown off what Mattenga’s is all about: quality pizza, local pride, and great vibes.

A Wedding to Remember Nothing says “forever” like pizza at your wedding, right? We had the honor of catering a beautiful wedding filled with love, laughter, and (of course) plenty of slices. To the happy couple—thank you for making us part of your story. Here's to a lifetime of joy, togetherness, and cheesy moments.
Pizza with the Police – Garden Ridge PD We teamed up with the Garden Ridge Police Department for their “Pizza with the Police” event—bringing officers and neighbors together, one slice at a time. Community matters to us, and we’re proud to support events that build trust and connection.

Stone Oak Elementary – PTA Meeting + 2nd Grade Stars
We had a blast being part of the Stone Oak Elementary PTA Meeting and the 2nd Grade Performance. Huge thanks for the shoutout! We’re thrilled everyone enjoyed the pizza—we’ll always show up for our schools.
Special Guests: The Castronova Family
We were lucky to share a meal and some great conversation with last year’s San Antonio Gunslingers quarterback Sam Castronova and his awesome parents. It’s always a treat to connect with the community and the people who inspire it. Thanks for dropping by and sharing the love.

New Pizza Boxes. Same City Pride. Our new pizza boxes hit the scene this month—and they’re bold, local, and all about San Antonio. Featuring our city and the Gunslingers, these boxes are more than packaging—they’re a tribute to the place we call home.
April was packed with connection, celebration, and community spirit. We’re proud to be more than just a pizza shop—we’re part of San Antonio’s fabric, and we’re here to serve up more than just food. We’re here to make moments.
See y’all in June—hungry and ready.
