May at Mattenga’s wasn’t just about slinging dough — it was about making meaningful connections, saying thank you where it counts, and showing up for our community in big, cheesy ways.
700 Teachers. 7 Locations. 7 Days of Gratitude.
We kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week with one simple question: What if we treated 700 teachers in San Antonio to Mattenga’s pizza?
Not as a promo. Not as a marketing move. But as a real “thank you." Because teachers don’t just educate — they inspire, they lead, they carry the weight of shaping futures. And that deserves more than just words. It deserves pizza. A lot of it.

So, we rolled up with hot pies and full hearts:
7 Mattenga’s locations
7 straight days of giving
700 incredible educators served
Every delivery was a moment. A handshake. A smile. A teacher reminded that they matter.
We believe a slice of pizza can do that — it can say:
“We see you.” “We appreciate you.” “You’re the real MVP.”
Star Wars Day — The Pizza Rolls Strike Back
On May 4th, we got a little galactic. Across all locations, we celebrated Star Wars Day with our special “May the 4th Pizza Rolls” — and the force was strong with this one.

Career Day at Garden Ridge Elementary
Owner spotlight: I had the honor of visiting Garden Ridge Elementary for Career Day — and honestly, it might’ve been the highlight of my year.
Standing beside first responders, soldiers, and other community leaders, I got to talk to kids about something I deeply believe in: entrepreneurship.
I asked one student:
“What if you owned your own restaurant one day?”“What if it was called JULIE’S PLACE?”“What if people drove from all over San Antonio just to eat your pancakes?”
Their eyes lit up. Dreams sparked. And later, I opened a stack of hand-written thank-you notes that hit harder than any five-star review ever could.
Being a local business owner means more than running a restaurant. It means being invited into classrooms, sharing stories, and planting seeds of possibility.
Thank you, Garden Ridge. Let’s keep dreaming big — together. —Hengam Stanfield, Co-Owner, Mattenga's Pizzeria Wrapping May with Heart
Whether it was showing up for teachers, rolling with Star Wars fans, or inspiring future entrepreneurs, May 2025 reminded us why we do what we do.
It’s not just pizza. It’s community. It’s connection. It’s believing in people — and baking that belief into every bite.
Thanks for being part of this journey. See you in June.
The May 2025 impact report is a great way to see the strides that have been made in sustainability and community engagement. It's impressive to see the efforts to reduce environmental footprints and support local communities. I think events that highlight such initiatives deserve a well-organized presentation, and restaurant menu covers can make a big difference in creating a polished and professional look for events like this. These menu covers add an elegant touch and can align with the sustainability message by being made from eco-friendly materials, making them perfect for any impact-driven event.
